John 3:16-17

John 3:16–17 (ESV): "16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."

John 3:16 is the most quoted of all the Scriptures and yet no matter how many times one hears it this truth never loses its power. God intends to save, not condemn us. So much so that He would give us His only begotten Son. What kind of love is this?

When the world was lost and man was without hope God didn't just stand on the sidelines and do nothing with His love for us. His love sprang into action and He did the unthinkable. The Father sent His Son to be our only way out. This is God saying to every human being, "I love you and I want to be reconciled to you so I can spend eternity with you." Those who believe in Him will be saved. Those that don't won't. True love acts but also allows a choice.

Think for a moment about a time when someone's love for you sprung into action. Love is the greatest motivator in all the world. It will cause us to do the extraordinary. Let the same love that God has for man fill your heart that you too might take action and spread the Good News around to everyone that they can experience this wonderful salvation. Love is a verb. You say you love God, your actions prove it. Amen?

Father, we thank You for reminding us over and over of the great love You have for us. Help us to love You back in the same way. Fill us with overwhelming compassion for those who don't know You and help us to spring into action just as You have done for Your glory and honor we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
