John 20:19-20

John 20:19–20 (ESV): "19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord."

Sometimes the most tragic events in our lives can turn out to be the most beneficial.  The enemy means it for evil but God uses it for good.

The first day of the week, on the third day, the disciples found themselves afraid and sorrowful.  Their Lord was just beaten brutally and crucified for spreading the Good News.  Their fear was that they were next.  And to top it off, now Jesus' body was missing.  It's in these moments that we need not lock ourselves up and isolate ourselves.  We need to seek Jesus.  Thankfully Jesus comes to us when we were paralyzed by fear.

In His resurrected body, Jesus walks through the wall of the upper room and proclaims peace to the disciples.  The Cross seemingly brought pain and fear but Jesus says appearances aren't what they seem.  The Cross brings peace and forgiveness.  God is working everything out for the good of those who love Him who are called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28). You might be thinking "it's impossible for God to make anything good out of my present circumstance.  There is no way".  Ye of little faith, trust the Lord.  He is the Prince of Peace and the Lord over all and He is doing something in the midst of your troubles.  Just trust Him.

These disciples found pure joy in just three days and you will too if you just wait on the Lord.  Allow Jesus to bring peace in your life today.  He is the Prince of Peace and He is also sovereign Lord.  Receive His peace and trust Him that He is going to work all things together for you good.

Father we thank You so much that no matter what we experience in this life we can still have peace.  As tragic as life can be, as long as You're the Captain of the ship we have nothing to worry about. Help us to trust You more in the midst of our hardships.  We need Your resurrected peace in our lives, come even now and restore the joy of our salvation we pray in Jesus name, amen.
