John 12:27-28

John 12:27–28 (ESV): 27 "Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name."

Mankind was created by God and for God. We exist to bring glory to His name. The most tragic thing we can do is live for the glory of ourselves. That would be to abandon our design. Understand your purpose and live it!

When Jesus knew His hour had come, He didn't abandon His post. He stood firm in His calling for He understood His purpose. He came to glorify the Father by fulfilling His will. It was ordained from the foundation of the world that God would send His Son to be crucified on Calvary and raised to life on the third day. It was the Father's plan and to His glory to redeem mankind. Jesus understood His purpose and never cowered from it, even when it meant giving up His life for the glory of the Father.

Have you figured out your purpose in life yet? We move from thing to thing to thing trying to find our purpose but it can only be found in one place, the will of the Father. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works to glorify our God. We were designed by Him and for Him. Don't cower from your calling Christian. Be like Jesus who was willing to give all to the glory of the Father. This is why we exist, so glorify the Lord and live for Him and Him alone. Amen?

Father, thank You for reminding us why we exist. May we step into our calling with eyes fixed on You. Keep us from getting sucked into living for ourselves. May we live by You and for You, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
