John 10:27-30

John 10:27–30 (ESV): "27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one."

Everyone is looking for security these days, physical security, economical security, relational security but most of all eternal security.  Jesus makes it plain that His sheep are secure in Him!

Making His way through Solomon's Colonnade in the Temple for the celebration of the Feast of Dedication, Jesus was asked by the Pharisees to tell them plainly if He was the Christ.  He said, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep."  He goes on to declare that His sheep hear Him and follow Him and are secure in Him.  Notice Jesus said no one can snatch them out of "my hand" and then "no one can snatch them out of the Fathers hand."  He was declaring that He and the Father are one and that is why we can have security.  Jesus has the ability to keep us (Jude 1:24-25) because He is God.

I hope you feel as secure as sheep do while in the fold with the Shepherd sitting at the door because Jesus Christ and the Father are holding your salvation in their sovereign and able hands.  We have pasture in Christ, He is our rest, sanctuary and our peace.  Don't forget who's holding you Christian.  He will never let you go.

Thank You precious God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for giving us salvation and security through Your Son.  May we listen intently to His voice and walk securely upon the path He calls us.  We can have total confidence in our salvation just as long as we truly have it. Speak to our hearts and give us the assurance or conviction we need we pray in Jesus name, amen.
