Joel 1:19

Joel 1:19 (ESV): "19  To you, O Lord, I call. For fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and flame has burned all the trees of the field."

To whom do you call upon when life happens? Where do you go to find strength and hope amid catastrophe? There is only one source of help in this life, His name is Jesus. Look to Him and no other for He alone can save!

Joel ministered to the people of Judah around 835 BC. It was a tumultuous time in Judah, for the Queen Mother Athaliah had seized power at the sudden death in battle of her son Ahaziah (2 Kings 8:26, 2 Kings 11:1). She killed all her son's heirs, (yes, her grandsons), to take power. There was a swarm of locust that had also visited the land. It was in complete disarray. Joel's message was clear, repent and return to God!

Perhaps life feels a bit turbulent for you currently. Ask yourself, "what is God trying to show me? Do I have unrepentant sin, is He just stretching me?" Look to Him for guidance and direction. He has the answers. Call upon the Lord! He desires to come alongside you and lead you out of the mess you find yourself in BUT you must call upon Him. Don't look around, look up and cry out! He is waiting for you to ask for help. So ask! Amen?

Father, thank You for giving us a reason to hope! You alone are enough. Forgive us for looking to other things to comfort and strengthen us. We call upon You this day for help. Come Lord, lead us out of the ashes into Your marvelous light we pray in Jesus name, amen.
