Job 40:1-2

Job 40:1–2 (ESV): And the Lord said to Job: 2  "Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it."

Arguing with God is pointless. Not only is He is infinitely wiser but more importantly, He is never wrong. Stop contending and start listening! It will bring necessary humility to our hearts.

In Job 38 and 39, God gives Job a lesson on all of creation. He asks Job regarding his questioning of God if he were so wise then why isn't he God essentially. Then God gives Job an opportunity to answer to which he wisely says in Job 40:4–5 (ESV): 4  "Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. 5  I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further."

Are you contending with God? Are you questioning His affections and intentions in the midst of your trial? Listen, God hasn't gone anywhere. He is with you leading, strengthening, and guiding you. Stop talking and accusing and start listening for His still, small voice. He will speak profound truth to those who have an ear to hear. Stop wasting your words with endless cries of self-pity. Use them to praise and extol our great God and King. After all, He is God and we are not. Perhaps we should leave the reigning and ruling to Him. He is better suited for the job, amen?

Father, we thank You that even in our accusations and questioning You still love us the same. You are incredibly consistent with us as we walk through this life. Thank You! As we navigate through trials and tribulations may we question less and trust You more. Open our hearts and minds to understanding that we might praise You even in the storm. Give us an ear to hear Your Word and a heart to obey we pray in Jesus' name, Amen, and amen!
