Job 2:9-10

Job 2:9–10 (ESV): "9 Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die." 10 But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips."

Understanding why we exist will help us endure hardship well. We were created by Jesus for Jesus (Col 1:16). We exist for Him, He does not exist for us. When we understand this it changes how we deal with trials.

When Satan and the "sons of God" appeared before God an additional time God bragged about how Job maintained his integrity through the great loss of his livestock, servants, and children. Satan then challenged God to allow his life to hang in the balance for he would surely curse the Lord then. God allowed the trial but told Satan not to kill him.

Then the enemy inflicted boils upon the body of Job. He was in such misery that his wife told him to curse God and die but Job would not because he understood his place in this life. He existed for God and regardless of what he would have to go through he would not forsake this.

Who sits on the throne of your heart? Are you the center of your respective world? Would you sell out your allegiance to God for comfort, ease, and pleasure? We truly answer these questions when life turns south for us. If God is on the throne and the center of our lives when we experience personal suffering it will not move us. We will remain faithful as Job did.

You and I exist for God! That means we endure the good and the bad in this life praising Him all the way through. He gets to choose our path, we simply follow. Don't get lost along the way Christian thinking that God exists for you. Be faithful to the Lord not just in the good times but in the bad as well. Don't forget why you exist!

Father, thank You for reminding us this day why we exist. It is for You alone, to bring You glory, honor, and praise in all things. Give us the strength to fulfill our role in the scheme of humanity and never forget that we are here for You. Take this life and use it however You will, we pray in Jesus' name, amen, and amen!
