Jeremiah 33:14-15

Jeremiah 33:14–15 (ESV): "14 "Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land."

How often do we say, "Jesus is coming" but in our heart of hearts wonder, "Is He really"? Why do we question His Word? Jesus said, "Surely, I am coming soon (Rev 22:20)." We can count on Him doing exactly what He said. Just as God fulfilled His promise for the first coming of the Messiah to Israel, so too can we confidently bank on the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ!

As Jeremiah sat in a prison court by the hand of Zedekiah, king of Judah for proclaiming judgment upon the land the Lord spoke a word of profound wonder to him. He declared the Second Coming of the "righteous Branch to spring up for David". This is a title given to the Messiah who we know to be Jesus Christ. God was assuring Jeremiah and all the people of Israel that Jesus was coming and would set up His earthly Kingdom. Fast forward 580 year's and Jesus was born. God did exactly what He said He would relating to the First Coming so we can bank on the soon return of Jesus.

In the hearts of many, they say, "people have been saying Jesus is coming again for years." That is correct but just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it's not true. He is coming back! Jesus said in John 14:8, "I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you." Jesus will do exactly what He said He would do. The Father's promise to Israel is a restored land where Jesus executes justice and righteousness from a physical throne in Jerusalem over the entire earth. He is coming. This should both motivate and comfort us. Don't worry about the time that has passed look to the promise given and be ready, He could come today.

If you don't know Jesus as Lord, today would be a really good day to receive forgiveness for your sins and crown Him Lord of your life. Simple pray, Father, I come to you asking for forgiveness. I have sinned against you. I want to turn my life over to You now. I believe Jesus came and died for me and rose again from the dead on my behalf. I receive Him as Lord." This prayer prayed with sincerity of heart will change your eternal destination. Don't put this off. Time is ticking, Jesus is coming soon, amen?

Father, thank You for all that You do to continually calm our fears and remind us of our eternal home. We trust in You Lord. May we be encouraged today that the coming of Christ is imminent. If we are not looking we will not be ready. May we keep our eyes on the prize and remind ourselves that everything You say comes to fruition. Keep us on mission and help us to remain watchful we pray in Jesus name, amen.
