Jeremiah 29:11-14

Jeremiah 29:11–14 (ESV): "11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile."

God has a plan Christian! His plan is for your welfare and not for evil thus it includes discipline but also prosperity and peace. The one condition is found in your willingness to turn to Him. When you seek Him wholeheartedly His discipline will turn to prosperity and peace but not before!

Jeremiah has been a broken record to the people of Judah. "Judgment is coming, judgment is coming" he proclaims over and over again. The King and all the nobles are mad and want to kill him. The people of Judah have also turned away from him and yet it's in this moment God reveals His plan for this nation, seventy years of captivity, and then the people of Judah, led by Daniel and the like, will turn back towards God and He will rescue, restore, and rebuild them. He will cause them to prosper and will heal their land!

Fast forward seventy years and the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem is given! The King of the Medes and the Persians allow Zerubbabel, Ezra, Nehemiah, and many more to return, restore, and rebuild Jerusalem. It was prophesied by God Himself!

Notice the Lord says, "THEN YOU WILL CALL UPON ME." God knew what would transpire, that Daniel and others who were faithful during captivity would direct the people back to the Lord. My point is this, your life is known from the end to the beginning. God knows when you will stray and when you will pray. He will discipline in times of diversion and bring prosperity and peace to those who return and seek Him. This is the normal character of our God! He is slow to anger and abounding in love. He wants nothing but the best for you and I. Trust His plan. When He is disciplining you trust Him, when He is prospering you be grateful and remain faithful. He has a plan! Just keep your eyes on Him! Amen?

Father, we thank You that You are faithful to us even when we are not. We thank You that Your plan is always for our good and never for evil. Help us to keep our eyes on You in all times and seasons. Let us never reject Your chastisement but return to You during those times so You can restore, and rebuild that which was lost as a result of our sin. Have Your way we pray in Jesus name, amen, and amen!
