Jeremiah 10:6-7

Jeremiah 10:6–7 (ESV): "6 There is none like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is great in might. 7  Who would not fear you, O King of the nations? For this is your due; for among all the wise ones of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like you."

God is holy, totally separate, and in a class all by Himself. He is to be worshipped as supreme and infinite One. Thus we are not to give our hearts to another. No one can rival the greatness of our God!

Jeremiah contrasts idols made with hands in comparison to the One and Only True Living God. He says, idols can't speak, they have to be carried, they are like a scarecrow in a cucumber field (vs 5). Man fears them, trembles at their feet as if they can do good or evil. There is only One we should fear, the God Almighty.

God deserves our worship. He is Creator, Sustainer, Provider, Healer, Savior, Redeemer, and Friend. He is the God who spoke the world into existence and the One who holds the universe in the span of His hand. He deserves wholehearted, undistracted, fully devoted worship. So give Him what is due. Denounce any dumb and lame idols and give your whole self to Him. For who is like the Lord Almighty? There is no one like Him, amen?

Father, all praise, honor, and glory to You alone. None is like You God! Who can match Your greatness and power? None can rival Your majesty. Forgive us for elevating things made with hands above You in our hearts. We denounce all idols this day and give You our whole hearts. Take Your rightful place and rule on the throne within that we might live a life worthy of One who gave His life for us. You alone are great and greatly to be praised in Jesus' name we pray, amen.
