Isaiah 6:8

Isaiah 6:8 (ESV): "8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here I am! Send me."

Horshack from Welcome Back Cotter was known for one thing, his enthusiastic hand raising and boisterous desire to answer the questions of his teacher Mr. Cotter. He must have taken lessons from Isaiah for when God asks, "whom shall I send, who will go for us, " he promptly raises his hand saying, oh, oh, oh oh oh oh.

At the time of Isaiah's calling Israel had forsaken the Lord. They were living for self and worshipping false idols. The pride of the nation was at an all-time high and thus God said "I will bring low those who exalt themselves above me." God will send a messenger to warn the nation. Isaiah was to be that man...but willingly. God gives him a vision that he is before the Lord and Isaiah immediately felt the shame of his depravity so an angel was sent to touch his lips with the coal of heaven to purify him. Then God asked the question "whom shall I send, who will go for us?" Isaiah passionately stated, "behold me. Look at me, Lord. I will go!"

God will never send you if you are unwilling to go. He is not looking for perfect people but willing people. He will cleanse you before He sends you but you must be willing. You might be wondering, "why not me Lord? Why haven't you given me the vision to go." The answer perhaps lies in your willingness to go. Do you have a heart that will go wherever He sends you and say whatever He commands you to say? If you are unwillingly to follow Him then you are not worthy of the calling you have received. It all comes back to laying down your life before Him and saying, "here am I, send me!" Take a moment today and make a declaration to God telling Him you are willing to go and do whatever He puts before you and watch if He doesn't call upon you to go for Him. Be willing, amen?

Father, thank You for who You are. Thank You that You cleanse us of our sin and then use us to be messengers in this world. May you even right now, touch our lips with the cleansing power of the blood of Christ and call us to full commitment to You this day. Put in our hearts a full abandonment of this life to a life of full surrender to You we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
