LIsaiah 58:1–2 (ESV): "Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins. 2  Yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the judgment of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God."

Judgment begins in the house of God. Believers should cry out in repentance on their behalf before they cry out on behalf of their nation. They shouldn't go on living in sin while crying out for the abominations of their countrymen. God says those prayers are not heard!
God tells Isaiah to make the transgressions of the people of Judah known publicly. It's not judging someone to declare their sin. It's a plea for repentance. The people of Judah were worshipping God daily, doing Bible study, praying and fasting for the nation while remaining in their sin. God said this is absurd. God says, "Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high (Isa 58:4)."
Our nation is in deep trouble but so is the church! Just like the people of Judah, many are crying out on behalf of the sins of others while remaining in their sin! The church needs to repent and then our voices will be heard. What a bad example to pray for the sexual immorality of our nation while 80% of church-going believers are caught up in pornography. Let's begin by doing a full cleansing of our person before we focus on the sins of our nation. It begins with you Christian. Repent of your sins. Be washed so your voice can be heard. Our prayers are only effective when we are washed in the blood and walking in obedience to God (Jn 9:31) and ask according to His will.
Father, we thank You for giving us a means of cleansing. Our sins are forgiven through the blood of Christ alone. Wash us clean today that our voices might be heard as we pray according to Your will. Give us strength and power to walk in obedience. Our nation needs you desperately Lord but so does Your church. Make known our sins so we can repent we pray in Jesus name, amen.
