Isaiah 55:10-11

Isaiah 55:10–11 (ESV): "10  "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11  so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."

God's Word is a seed that goes into the soil of our hearts and spouts to bring forth the newness of life. It has a specific purpose and will always accomplish what it was sent for. It never returns void.

Isaiah 55 begins with a series of invitations. God invites the children of Israel to be properly fed (vs 1-2), spiritually led (vs 3-5), and to be forgiven (vs 6-7). He goes on to declare that God's thoughts and ways are different than ours (vs 8-9) thus spiritual things won't make sense to the flesh-man. Only the Spirit-man can discern. Isaiah further declares that God sent His Word into the world for a specific purpose, namely to reveal His nature and character so we see our need for His Son Jesus. It will always accomplish what it was sent to do.

When a gardener puts the seed into the soil that seed has a specific purpose and if it is planted properly it will bear fruit! If it is received by the soil and watered correctly the seed will birth forth fruit that will spring up. That is exactly what the Word will do! Like a seed received into the soil of our hearts, the Word will take root and grow magnificent fruit in our lives. All we have to do is receive it! The purpose is already programmed into the seed. Receive His Word with gladness and you will experience the fruit of becoming more like Jesus.

Are you weary from trying to change? Submit yourself to His Word and let it do its sanctifying work within you to transform you into the image of Christ. The only thing you must be willing to do is receive it and God will do the rest through His Spirit! Amen?

Father, we thank You for Your Word. What an amazing, life-transforming work it can do in our lives when we receive it as we ought. Give us hearts that are good soil, prepared, and ready to receive from You. We surrender all that we are even now. Have Your way in us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
