Isaiah 40:8

Isaiah 40:8 (ESV): "8  The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever."

God's Word is eternal! When all is said and done the Lord's Word will stand forever. That means we can completely trust that all is said will be done now and for all eternity.

After 39 Chapters of mostly condemnation, the Holy Spirit begins to speak thru Isaiah words of consolation to the children of Judah. He reminds them that no matter what they face there is comfort in the Lord (Isa 40:1). God is the God of all comfort (2 Cor 1:3) and therefore any who trust in Him can find peace in His Word. Isaiah goes on to speak of the Messianic hope that will appear when a voice cries in the wilderness (Isa 40:3-5). Redemption will come for He declared it. He reminds the children of Judah of the frailty of man, like grass and flowers our days are numbered. Man will wither and fade but the Word of God will stand forever (Isa 40:6-8).

What information are you trusting in today? Are you focused more on the words of man? Understand, They will not last nor can they save for man's thoughts are not God's thoughts. One should follow only words that will stand forever! Forget the philosophies and theories of man, trust in the Word alone for it will stand forever. You can't be sure about what man says but you can be absolutely sure that what the Word says will come to pass. That is a glorious truth that we can bet our lives on.

God warns through His Word, yes, but He also comforts! His Word saves. Commit yourself to His Word and follow it wholly and you too will stand forever for it will lead you to the foot of the Cross and the need for King Jesus. Commit yourself to the Word of God and all will go well with you, amen?

Father, we thank You that You are constant and unchanging, that You reign forevermore. We are particularly thankful for Your Word that encourages and comforts, confronts, and consoles us. Your Word is sure and a firm foundation that we can build our lives upon. Help us Lord to live by Your Word alone. May we not look to any other source of instruction but make Your Word our sole source of guidance in this life we pray in Jesus name, amen.
