Isaiah 40:31 (ESV): "31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
Waiting is hard for humans because we are incredibly impatient. We want things right now and if we aren't disciplined in our hearts we can bring that mentality before God. We wait on Him, not vice versa. Wait on the Lord, be patient with Him and He will renew, strengthen and lift you.
The children of Judah had been relying on their strength for such a long time that it had become their way of life. The Lord was now revealing the fruit of their labor. They had become weary and faint-hearted for the flesh doesn't have what it takes to endure but the Spirit of God does. God offers the weary endurance, the weak strength, the faint power to endure. Those who wait on God will rise above all circumstances for they have a heavenly help that can do all things!
Are you forging ahead in the flesh or waiting on God to lead you through this life? Waiting doesn't mean being passive, it means actively seeking God with patience and expectation. He will never fail those who wait on Him. When circumstances hit us hard and suck the sap out of life we can find renewal and strength in Him. He promises to give power, strength and victory but only to those who wait on Him. Don't go it alone Christian. Place your trust in Christ and continually wait on Him diligently and He will give you what you need to overcome. Wait on the Lord! Amen?
Father, we thank You that we have a God who is in the waiting. May we learn from Your example and wait on You all the days of our lives. We don't wanna move unless You tell us to move. We need Your guidance and help. Fill us today with the understanding that if we want to walk with You we must wait upon You. Lift up the weary and weak, strengthen and empower us as we wait we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
