Isaiah 38:1-2

Isaiah 38:1–2 (ESV): "In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, "Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you shall die, you shall not recover." 2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord."

What can man do to change the trajectory of his fate? He can pray! God hears the cries of His kids and answers us according to His will. May we never grow weary of making petitions to our God for prayer can change any situation!

After the word of the Lord came to Hezekiah regarding the fate of the Assyrians, that they would not step foot inside of Judah, Hezekiah got sick. Isaiah instructed him to get his house in order for he was going to die. When Hezekiah heard this he turned his face the wall and prayed, "Please, O Lord, remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight" as he wept bitterly. God heard his prayer and saw his tears and added fifteen years to his life.

Whatever it is that you face, know this, prayer is powerful and God responds to the prayers of His kids. Now He doesn't always give us what we ask for but He does always answer. His will is best for us but there is something awesome about the reality that through our prayers we can watch God change things. Jesus said, ask and it will be given to you, seek, and you will find, knock and the door will open (Matt 7:7)." The idea is to keep on doing these things in all things. We petition the God of heaven until he says no! The psalmist said, "I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy hill (Ps 3:4). Cry out to God and let Him respond to your plea. You can do something about where you are and what you face. Pray and seek God in desperation! He may not give you what you ask for but He will give you what you need, amen?

Father, we thank You that we can pray to You and know that our prayers don't fall on deaf ears. Forgive us for being prayerless people. Put a heart of prayer in us Lord that we wouldn't just seek You when we need something but that we would develop our relationship with You through prayer. Stir our hearts even now to pray for Your glory and our good! In Jesus' name, amen.
