Isaiah 36:14-15

Isaiah 36:14–15 (ESV): 14 Thus says the king: 'Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you. 15 Do not let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord by saying, "The Lord will surely deliver us. This city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."

Words that are meant to discourage us from trusting in the Lord are always from the devil.  Refuse to listen to such nonsense for we always have hope no matter what for our God is the God of hope.

The word to King Azah (Isa 8) came to pass during the reign of Hezikiah.  The Assyrians we're now preparing to conquer Judah.  The King of Assyria sent Rabshakeh with a message of fear to the people of Judah.  He told them not to trust the words of King Hezekiah who claimed that the God of Israel would deliver them.  Rabshakeh was attempting to put fear in the hearts of the people of Judah so they would lose hope.  It wasn't fake news for they were being prepared to be conquered but regardless they need not fear for God will see them through.

Everywhere we turn today we hear "fear this" and "fear that"!  We need not fear any man or regime for our God is control.  The devil is attempting to move the people of God to fear where our nation is headed and what "rights" we have could be taken. I will remind you as God reminded the people of Judah that we need not fear the future, our God will see us through no matter what!  We are not promised a trial free life but rather a life of tribulation accompanied with perfect peace if we keep our eyes on God.  The unrest we sense is a sign of the times. Trust the Lord and fear not! He will be with us and will give us perfect peace during our troubles.  Keep your mind on things above and not on the things of the world (Col 3:3), amen?

Father, we thank You that no matter how grim the situation might look there is always hope in You.  May we never let fear cease our hearts and paralyze us from being on mission!  Help us to fear not for You are with us even to the end of the age. Fill us with the peace that surpasses all understanding and guard our hearts and minds in times of uncertainty we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
