Isaiah 30:20-21

Isaiah 30:20–21 (ESV): "20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. 21 And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left."

Trials come in our lives to train our spiritual ear to hear.We would never intently follow God without adversity and affliction.Don't ever miss the point of why God allows us to experience hardship.

Isaiah wrote about how God was using the stubbornness of Judah to train them to hear God's voice. They were continually trusting in someone other than God. They had gone from the Assyrians to the Egyptians rather than putting their confidence in the Lord.So God brought the bread of adversity and the water of affliction in their lives to reveal to them the true voice of God.

What must God do to train your ear to hear Him? He won't be a yelling Father or a threatening repeating Father, but He will be a faithful Teacher to us always. Perhaps your ear has fallen out of tune with His voice and now you are experiencing adversity and affliction. It's not without purpose!Listen to God's voice! You got yourself into this mess but He will get you out.Tune in to His voice and then do what He says. Amen?

Father, thank You for the bread of adversity and the water of affliction for they help our wayward hearts turn back towards You.Forgive us for closing our spiritual ear to You at times.Help us to listen more intently without having to be motivated by hardship and may we follow Your voice all the days of our lives we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
