Isaiah 14:16-17

Isaiah 14:16–17 (ESV): "16  Those who see you will stare at you and ponder over you: 'Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms, 17  who made the world like a desert and overthrew its cities, who did not let his prisoners go home?'"

When Goliath stepped on the battlefield all of Israel was afraid. He was a big bad dude but that wasn't the problem. The men of Israel had their eyes on the stature of man rather than the stature of God. The Devil is no different folks. The shadow of God is more frightening than the enemy ever could be.

Isaiah speaks of the downfall of Satan due to his pride. He stormed the throne of God declaring "I will be like the Most High God." Then reality set in and the Lord cast him down to earth. He stood no chance against the Lord. One day, when all is said and done the Lord will point out the frailty and weakness of the enemy in comparison to who He is.

The devil is fierce and mighty in comparison to any human being like Goliath was to the Israelites but in comparison to God, he is puny and weak. We must remember our God is greater when engaged in spiritual battles Greater is He who is in me than He who is in the world (1 Jn 4:4). We have nothing to fear in Christ. Don't fret the enemy for one day we will stand before him and say "you're the one who made the world tremble, who shook the kingdom, you're the one?" In the presence of God all enemies are deflated and defeated. Don't fear the enemy, fear the Lord, and live for Him.

Father, we thank You for who You are and how You strengthen and protect us. Forgive us for fearing the wrong person at times. Let us fear You and You alone and stand behind You in the battle. Let us not give the enemy any room to create fear within us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
