Isaiah 10:20-21

Isaiah 10:20–21 (ESV): "20 In that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no more lean on him who struck them, but will lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. 21 A remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God."

God always preserves a remnant in the nation of Israel. He is committed to her but will not tolerate idolatry in her camp. The same holds true for all of His followers!

Because Judah had been leaning on the Assyrians to help them overcome the Northern Kingdom and Syria God told them they would be punished. The Assyrians would become the instrument God would use to conquer them. Although they would eventually be taken captive by the Babylonians, God would preserve a remnant within the people to preserve their heritage. He is faithful even when we are not.

Interestingly, Isaiah speaks of Judah leaning on Assyria for peace so too will the nation lean on another who will promise peace for 7 years. God will allow them to put their eggs in his basket but halfway through (3 1/2 yrs) he will break the peace treaty and God will use the antiChrist just like the Assyrians to show Israel her fault. He will again preserve 144,000 Jews during this time to be a witness for Him. God is faithful!

Don't worry Christian, God has your back. Even when you lean on something else other than Him to protect and sustain you He will not forsake you. However, He will discipline you. God knows false security breeds false hope. Keep your dependency on Him and you will be part of His remnant. Don't let anything dethrone the Lord in your heart. Fight to keep Him Lord of your life, amen?

Father, we thank You for always preserving a remnant throughout the ages. It is this that has kept the message alive. May we be counted amongst the faithful to be your remnant in our day to rightly represent You in this present darkness. Help us to keep our hearts pure and clean and may we allow nothing to storm the throne of our hearts and attempt to take Your place we pray on Jesus' name, amen.
