Isaiah 1:18

Isaiah 1:18 (ESV): "18 "Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."

The heart of God is for reconciliation. Although mankind has forsaken Him terribly, He has made a way for our sins to be forgiven and forgotten. What a wonderful and loving God we serve.

God tells Isaiah to address the infidelity of the nation of Israel and that He considers their worship and offerings completely vain. He hides His face from them and closes His ears to their prayers because He can't hear their voices over their iniquities. The only hope for restoration with God is to come and reason with Him through the blood of His Son Jesus.

Think about this for a moment, God invites all wayward people who are full of iniquity and rebellion to come and reason with Him. To let Him wash their sins away and make them white as snow. That is extraordinary and very telling about the heart of God. He isn't waiting for you to clean yourself up but that you come as you are, filthy and stained and He will do the washing with the blood of the unblemished Lamb! Only His blood can cleanse us. What in world? Why would God invite us to come as we are and then provide the sacrifice necessary to cleanse us? Because He loves and His heart's desire is to be reconciled with every one of us!

Take a moment today and reflect on this. If you haven't responded to His invitation then come now. Tell Him, Lord I am coming to reason with You. He will know exactly what that means. Repent and be reconciled to the God of heaven. That is what He is after. Come now...all you who are weak and weary...Jesus will give you rest. Amen?

Father, You are totally amazing and beyond our comprehension. Your grace and mercy are exceedingly abundantly more than we can fathom. Forgive us for sinning against You. Wash us, cleanse us, restore us this day. May we never cease to continually respond to this invitation every time we sin. We want to reason with You the way You have called us to, through Your Son. Let us never move beyond this invitation or forget it we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
