Hosea 10:1-2

Hosea 10:1-2 "Israel is a luxuriant vine that yields its fruit. The more his fruit increased, the more altars he built; as his country improved, he improved his pillars. 2  Their heart is false; now they must bear their guilt. The Lord will break down their altars and destroy their pillars."

It's sad but true, many who stand under the fountain of blessing stray from the One who blesses because they forget He alone is the source of all good things. Israel is living proof of this.

Hosea was a man who was called by God to illustrate the unfaithfulness of Israel by taking a prostitute as a wife. God says in her whoredom she represents Israel who has played the whore and ran after other gods. They received the blessings from Jehovah God and used their riches to built altars to false gods. God will not stand for it. He will break down these pillars of false worship with calamity and hardship so that the house of Israel might repent and turn back toward Him. God will do in judgment what they could have done in contrition.

Don't ever forget the source of all goodness in your life Christian. God is a jealous God and He requires all of your worship. May we take the pillars down ourselves and turn back to God before He does it Himself. It is much better for a sinner to repent than for a sinner to suffer the chastisement of Almighty God. Come clean today. Rid yourself of idols and worship the source of all things with a pure and sincere heart.

Father forgive us for our idolatry. We have taken the blessings You have given and used them to create idols that we worship. Cleanse our hearts today. We repent and turn to You. Give us strength to remove the altars that there might be but only One God we worship, You and You alone. In Jesus name we pray, amen
