Hosea 1:2-3

Hosea 1:2–3 (ESV): "2 When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, "Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord." 3 So he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son."

The effectiveness of every minister comes back to two things, being able to hear God's voice and being willing to do whatever He says to do regardless if it makes sense to you or not.God trains His ministers to do both!

Hosea was a prophet who ministered around 760 to 720 B.C. It was after the reign of Solomon and thus he lived in a divided kingdom. His ministry is primarily to the Northern Kingdom of Israel.God's first prophetic word to Hosea was personal, "go marry a prostitute."That would have been a tough pill to swallow but if Hosea wanted to be used by God he must be willing to obey Him.

Often the minister is ineffective because he lacks the desire to obey the voice of God.He requires His servants to be obedient because His thoughts are not our thoughts not His ways our ways.If you want to be used by God you must be able to hear Him which means you need to spend ample time with Him in prayer and study.Secondly, you must be willing to do what He says no matter what. Keep your heart obedient to God and you will see Him do great things through you, amen?

Father, we thank You that You have given us the ability to hear from You.We pray that we are obedient to everything You call us to do.As we hear may we act.You alone are worthy to follow so let us follow hard after You in total obedience to Your voice we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
