Genesis 8:20-22

Genesis 8:20–22 (ESV): 20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, "I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man's heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. 22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease."

God says what He does and does what He says. That is both a comforting and scary thought. For if He promises salvation it will happen but if He promise judgement it also will happen. He alone is faithful. You can rest in the Word of God knowing that whatever He said will come to pass.

Noah was six hundred years old when God told him the flood was coming in seven days. So God sent to him seven pairs of all clean animals and birds and one pair of unclean to preserve His creation. When Noah, his family and all the animals were loaded up in the ark God shut them in. On the seventh day God unleashed the waters and it rained for forty days and nights just like He said it would. During that time God was faithful to Noah. He had provide for him just as He had promised. After one hundred and fifty days God blew the waters from the earth and dry ground appeared. Noah sent a dove to check for dry ground and when the dove didn't return he knew it was safe to disembark. The first thing Noah did was worship God. He built an altar, took from the first of the clean animals and birds and offered them to the Lord. When God smelled the aroma He was please and promised to never destroy the earth by flood again.

God will do what He said in your life too! He will see you through the raging waters of life. He will preserve you from drowning in your sin. He will also judge those who are not in right relationship with Him. He is faithful! Take Him at His word for it will come to pass. May we too build an altar and offer Him the best of the little we have. He is worthy of it. Be sacrificial and faithful just as He has been with you. Rest easy Christian, you God will be faithful always.

Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness to us. You are truly an amazing God worthy of our adoration and praise. May we take You at Your word and never doubt that You will do whatever You promise. Help us to also to do what we say. May we be faithful to You and to each other as You are to us we pray in Jesus name, amen.
