Genesis 48:11–12 (ESV): "11 And Israel said to Joseph, "I never expected to see your face; and behold, God has let me see your offspring also." 12 Then Joseph removed them from his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth."
There is nothing quite like a fathers love for his child and there is nothing quite like a child's respect for his/her father. This is what the parent/child relationship should look like!
Joseph heard Jacob was sick and nearing death so he brought his two sons Ephraim and Manasseh to see their grandfather. When Jacob heard that Joseph was there he summoned up his strength to see him. The thought of Joseph's presence gave him strength. Jacob was so blessed to see his grandsons Ephraim and Manasseh that he gave them a blessing in return. He included them in as patriarchs and heirs to his inheritance. They are forever mentioned as part of Jacobs heritage.
Never underestimate the power of love and respect. Taking time to reach out to those who aren't able to get around is a huge blessing to them. It gives them the ability to express their love for you and demonstrates your respect for them. Generally if you are the one visiting your the one that is far more blessed. Take time to show those you care about honor, respect and love. It will go much further than you expect.
Father we thank You for relationships. First and foremost for our relationship with You! How amazing it is to be loved by You. May we give You the respect and honor due. May we also treat one another the same. Help us to see relationships as blessings and not just work. We love you and thank You for all You do in Jesus name, amen!
