Genesis 40:6-8

Genesis 40:6–8 (ESV): "6 When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were troubled. 7 So he asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in custody in his master's house, "Why are your faces downcast today?" 8 They said to him, "We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them." And Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Please tell them to me."

God has gifted His body with spiritual gifts to bless each other (1 Cor 12:7). We aren't meant to hold back in operating in the Spirit. If you have the gift of wisdom or a word of knowledge or the ability to distinguish spirits or perhaps the gift of prophecy which can be used to interpret dreams, may we use them to bless others always.

While in prison the favor of God continued to be with Joseph. He became a steward of two prisoners that were Pharaohs servants. One was the chief cup bearer and the other chief baker. They both had dreams that needed interpreting. Joseph just so happened to have this gift. To the cup bearer he says, "your dream means you will be restored to your position in three days. Don't forget me when you are sitting before Pharaoh." To the baker he says, "in three days you will be executed." Heavy news but good to know I would think. Joseph's request after interpreting not before was that the cupbearer would remember him and he would but not immediately.

What spiritual gifting do you have? Not sure? Seek them! Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14:1 that we are to "earnestly desire spiritual gifts." The Holy Spirit has gifts for you but you must receive them! When you do, operate freely in them, don't withhold them. God will bless you in your obedience. Be faithful with little and more will given to you.

Father we thank You for the Holy Spirit and the gifts that accompany every believer. Give us boldness to walk in our gifting and let us never use them as a means of prospering ourselves. Forgive us for withholding at times. May you get glory from our lives in every aspect we today in Jesus name, amen!
