Genesis 25:31-34

Genesis 25:31–34 (ESV): "31 Jacob said, "Sell me your birthright now." 32 Esau said, "I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?" 33 Jacob said, "Swear to me now." So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright."

We often don't appreciate the calling God has given us. Many squander theirs or never utilize it. Some even despise it. Let that not be said of us. May we use our gifting and calling to the glory of God!

Rebekah's two sons Jacob and Esau were totally different dudes. Jacob was a mommas boy who stayed in the kitchen and cooked. Esau was a man's man. He was a hunter and warrior. One day after a hunt Esau came into the kitchen where Jacob was cooking totally famished. He would given anything for a bowl of Jacobs lentil stew, even his birth right. Jacob was after Esau's birth right and Esau didn't care about it so for a bowl of lentil stew Esau gave Jacob his birth right which would include the double portion of inheritance and the role as spiritual leader.

God has given you certain things for a reason. He will not force you to have them or fulfill them. You can do what you like with your gifting and calling but know that God has given it to you for His glory and your good. Don't forsake it or despise it. Receive it and engage in it to bring God the utmost glory. Time is of the essence, start today!

Father we thank You that You have given us giftings and callings that are meant to bring You glory. Please forgive us for not utilizing them as we ought. We choose to fully embrace who You have made us to be . For some it is Pastor or Missionary, Evangelist or Teacher, whatever You have called us and gifted us to be we fully receive in Jesus name, amen!
