Genesis 18:22-24

Genesis 18:22–24 (ESV): "22 So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord. 23 Then Abraham drew near and said, "Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24 Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it?"

There is no greater feeling in the world than to know that someone has your back. When troubled times come it's good to know that we have an intercessor at the right hand of God that has our back 24/7.

After Abraham's conversations with the three visitors two of them set off to journey towards Sodom where Lot resided. The Lord stayed behind with Abraham and they had a conversation about the judgment that was about to take place. Sodom had grown increasingly wicked and the patience of God was wearing thin. Abraham immediate become an intercessor for his nephew Lot. He asked "Lord would you save the city if there were any righteous people there?" The Lord confirmed for He does not judge the righteous with the unrighteous.

Like Abraham to Lot we have an intercessor and His name is Jesus. As the enemy makes accusations before the throne of God day and night Jesus makes intercession reminding God of our imputed righteousness. Thankfully the wrath of God has been satisfied for us and therefore we will never suffer the destruction that will come upon those who have not put their faith in Jesus. Just as Lot was removed from Sodom before the wrath came down so too will we be caught away from this world when the wrath of God comes upon it. Thanks be to Jesus.

Father we give You glory and honor and praise forever and ever. You are incredibly merciful and gracious to us. We deserve the cup that Jesus drank for us. Let us never forget the continual work of Jesus Christ as our intercessor. We will never be put to shame. Thank You Lord. You have our hearts, have Your way we pray in Jesus name, amen and amen!
