Ezekiel 44:1-2

Ezekiel 44:1–2 (ESV): "Then he brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary, which faces east. And it was shut. 2 And the Lord said to me, " This gate shall remain shut; it shall not be opened, and no one shall enter by it, for the Lord, the God of Israel, has entered by it. Therefore it shall remain shut."

Only God can shut the doors that no man can open and open the doors that no man can shut. It is by His will alone that these things transpire. Trust in His sovereign will.

Ezekiel was brought back to the Eastern Gate and he saw that it was sealed shut for (God) the Messiah and the Holy Spirit had entered through it. No one else would be worthy to enter by it for only Jesus is worthy. He has become the door that gives access to the Kingdom of God to all who believe.

The Muslims have tried to shut up the Eastern Gate, starting in 810, and finally walling it off in 1541 (Turks). They were so concerned about the prophecy of the Messiah coming through it that they also put a graveyard in front of it to further barricade the path to the Temple. When Jesus comes back He will split the Mount of Olives in two from East to West as described by Zechariah 14:4 destroying all man-made barriers and will walk right through the Eastern Gate. Once this happens the Gate will remain shut! Trust the promise of Isaiah 22:22 (ESV): "22 And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open." His will is always accomplished. Walk accordingly!

Father, we thank You that You are the God of open and closed doors. May we seek to walk according to Your will...nothing more and nothing less, in Jesus name, amen.
