Ezekiel 37:4-5

Ezekiel 37:4–5 (ESV): "4 Then he said to me, "Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live."

God is in the business of bringing dead people alive. When a person trusts in Jesus they are given the Spirit of God who is the breath of life that causes regeneration. If you have the Spirit, you have been made alive (Ro 8:9-11).

Ezekiel was brought to a valley of dry bones and told to prophesy over them. As he did the Lord assembled the skeletons, clothed them with flesh and skin but there was no life in them yet for God had not breathed on them. Then God told Ezekiel to prophesy the breath of life upon them and the Spirit entered the dead and made them alive. This was God's prophesy over the nation of Israel regarding their restoration to the land of Israel.

Like Ezekiel, we too are to prophesy life over the dead. God has given us the message of hope in the Gospel to speak forth life. When people hear the Word and believe in Jesus for salvation the Breath of Life, the Holy Spirit, comes inside and makes all things new (Jn 20:22). He is the breath that we need to be born again. Prophesy to the dead life through the crucified and risen Savior of the world Jesus Christ that those who are dead can be made alive in Him. Amen?

Father, we thank You for the Holy Spirit who makes us alive in Christ. May we walk faithfully in Him and declare to those who are dead the path that leads to regeneration. May we never tire of telling people how to find true life we pray in Jesus name, amen.
