Ezekiel 36:8-9

Ezekiel 36:8–9 (ESV): "8 "But you, O mountains of Israel, shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to my people Israel, for they will soon come home. 9 For behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown."

God has one expectation for His people, to bear fruit! He will till the ground of our lives, sow the seed, water, provide the sun, and all we have to do is bear the fruit.

God speaks a prophetic promise over the nation of Israel declaring their purpose, to multiply and bear much fruit. This was always the plan for Israel. They were to be a light to the nations and a testimony of the greatness of Jehovah God but they fell short. Fortunately, God doesn't give up on them. He promises to till the ground of their hearts and sow His seed and prune the branches that they can be the fruit-bearing nation He made them to be.

Christians have the same call upon their lives. Jesus said in John 15:16 (ESV): "16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you." Our purpose is to bear fruit. The way we do this is by "abiding" in Christ (Jn 15:1-3). God is faithful to remove the branches that don't bear fruit and prune the ones that do so that they might bear more fruit. Abide in Christ Christian, live in Him, and you will bear MUCH fruit. Amen?

Father, thank You for doing the necessary things in our lives to cause us to bear fruit. We desire to fulfill our purpose so prune us that we can bring that much more glory to You we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
