Exodus 15:1–3 (ESV): "I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. 2 The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. 3 The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is his name."
Victory is a subject that people have been singing about since the beginning of time. Song after song has been written in response to a great feat. From "We Are the Champions" to "I'm Still Standing" to "Vangelis", the list goes on and on. Perhaps one of the most notable songs ever written was by Moses after crossing the Red Sea. All praise be to God!
The children of Israel had finally been set free from the clutches of Pharaoh. They were delivered from the tyranny and oppression of Egypt by the mighty hand of God. He parted the Red Sea and allowed them to cross on dry ground and then swallowed up Pharaoh and his army as they pursued them. The Lord is a warrior and a mighty One at that. None can stand against Him. Immediate after realizing this victory Moses writes a song praising God for all He had done.
The Lord is our strength and our song, He has become our salvation! We too can sing of the great victory we have been given over our enemy. None can stand against our God. Let us sing and rejoice in Jesus Christ and all that He has done. Let us also be reminded that no matter what battle we find ourselves in, God is with us and we will not fall if we stand behind Him. Sing Christian with all your heart for He is truly worthy to be praised!
Father, we thank You for always being with us, for never leaving or forsaking us. Battle after battle You have fought for us. We are still standing because of You, victory belongs to You alone. May we never cease celebrating and glorying in Your name. You are King and Lord and we will sing of Your greatness for all of eternity. Thank You Lord, in Jesus name we pray, amen!
