Exodus 13:21-22

Exodus 13:21–22 (ESV): "21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people."

Following the Lord's leading will always put you in the right place in life. When we depart His path we may find worldly success but it will never satisfy our souls. We are meant to be followers! So follow hard.

When the children of Israel departed Egypt they were dressed for battle but they were not ready for it. God had prepared them for the tough road ahead physically but mentally and spiritually they still needed some help. That's why God did not lead them by way of the Philistines because He knew immediate battle would discourage them to the point of wanting to return to Egypt. Thus He led them to the Red Sea where He will once again show His mighty hand by way of miraculous deliverance. They were visibly led by God in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. He made His presence known thus they would know He is with them.

Similarly, God is leading us, not by pillar of cloud or by pillar of fire but by His Spirit. He has come to live in us and lead us from the inside out. We too can sense His presence. He also knows where and when to lead us. Don't blaze your own trail. Walk on His path even if you feel it is leading you to a dead end like the Red Sea. He has something planned. Trust Him and take position two as follower and never leader.

Father we thank You for meeting us where we are and making Your presence known. Direct our steps and keep us on the path that leads to Your perfect will at all cost. We are so easily swayed, give us discernment and conviction to follow as we were designed to we pray in Jesus name, amen!
