Ephesians 4:11-12b

Ephesians 4:11–12 (ESV): "11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ..."

A calling is not a career choice or something a person volunteers for, it is a duty given by God for His purposes. You could say it was what a person was born to do.

Did you know God designed you for something specific? You were created with real purpose and meaning. No one is an accident. Every person has been created to fulfill a role. Paul reminds the churches in Ephesus that it was God who gave Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Shepherds and Teachers. Notice the purpose, to make a great name for themselves...No! To equip the saints for the work of ministry. God's calling for God's purpose. No one chooses an office or role in the church, they are born for it.

What were you created to do? You have a role in the body of Christ. If you feel like your life is void of meaning perhaps it's because you aren't fulfilling your God given purpose. You have a calling. Seek the Lord and ask Him to reveal it. Paul was very clear on his calling, he wrote in 1 Corinthians 9:16 "woe to me if I don't preach the Gospel." You will be a miserable soul until you began to fulfill your purpose. It's sin not to! Jeremiah said the same thing in Jeremiah 20:9. You were created for something specific. Figure it out by seeking the Lord and then step into it wholeheartedly. Amen?

Father, we thank You that You don't make mistakes. We know that every person born has divine purpose. Reveal to us this day what specific thing You have called each of us to and give us the boldness and courage to fulfill it. Come by Your Spirit Lord and reveal, convict, confirm our calling we pray in Jesus name, amen!
