Deuteronomy 8:11-14

Deuteronomy 8:11–14 (ESV): "11 "Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, 12 lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, 13 and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery..."

One of the greatest dangers for the Christian is prosperity. It is so deceiving for it can make you feel so needless when you are in great need.Beware of the bewitching of riches.

The Lord instructed Moses and the people to make obedience something they are characterized with because when prosperity comes and the normal needs are met it can cause poeple to live differently. It's important that no matter what we have whether little or great that we stay content and obedient to the Lord.

Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God (Matt 19:24). Physical riches somehow cover up spiritual poverty. We are all bankrupt without Jesus. We might have great wealth on earth but that can't get anyone to heaven nor is it a sign of Gods favor. The enemy tempted Jesus with the riches of this world, how much more will he tempt us?Beware Christian of being possessed by your possessions, by being wooed away by wealth.Be obedient to the Lord no matter what tax bracket you fall into.He is the only one worthy of our hearts.

Father, we thank You for the great blessings You bestow upon us.Forgive us for turning them into curses.Let us use all our resources for Your glory and honor. Keep us free from greed and deception.May we always remain absolutely desperate for You we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
