Daniel 9:20–22 (ESV): "While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my plea before the Lord my God for the holy hill of my God, 21 while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, came to me in swift flight at the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 He made me understand, speaking with me and saying, "O Daniel, I have now come out to give you insight and understanding."
What should Christians be doing when sin abounds in the world around them?Praying and repenting! Our first step to healing begins not by pointing the finger at the sin of others but at the sin within our hearts.Start with your own heart before you focus on someone else.
In the first year of the reign of Darius the Medo-Persian king, Daniel read Jeremiah's prophecy of seventy years of Babylonian captivity for Israel because they were worshipping false gods.Daniel knew the time was coming to a close.Notice he doesn't start pointing fingers he begins praying for national repentance but starts with himself. This results in God giving Daniel the seventy-week prophecy.
How interesting it is that Daniel after reading Jeremiah knew the time was about up and began to repent personally that we presently can read the seventy-week prophecy of Daniel and know time is near for Christ to return and take His Bride home. Our response ought to be the same as Daniel's.May we pray for the church to repent and lead by example.Christ's soon return is imminent, don't point fingers pray, and ask God to change your heart. There is no telling of what He might reveal to us as we return to Him.Amen?
Father, how amazing is Your grace and love. You cover a multitude of sins.Forgive us for not being who we ought to be but thank You that we aren't what we once were.We return our whole heart to You.Have Your way in each of us Lord.Revive and forgive us for not loving You as we ought. Strengthen us to do Your will we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
