Daniel 8:26-27

Daniel 8:26–27 (ESV): "26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings that has been told is true, but seal up the vision, for it refers to many days from now." 27 And I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days. Then I rose and went about the king's business, but I was appalled by the vision and did not understand it."

Sometimes we don't understand what God is showing us, nevertheless, we must be faithful to do what He tells us with what He has revealed. His revelation is not always meant for us but for others.

In 551BC, during the reign of Belshazzar (Nebuchadnezzar's grandson), Daniel had a vision of a ram with two horns (the Medo-Persian Empire), who will be conquered by a He-Goat (the Grecian Empire). After the He-Goat conquers the known world by the leading of Alexander the Great, Daniel sees a division in power of this empire into four parts (four horns). One of the four, "a little horn" will come from the Seleucid family that is ruling over Babylon and Syria. His name is Antiochus Epiphanies who is a type of antichrist. He would wreak havoc upon Israel. He would desecrate the Temple and occupy Israel for 2300 days and then he would be driven out. This occurred during the Maccabean Revolt. Daniels vision fast forwards to the Tribulation Period where the antichrist will "by peace destroy many" but will finally be destroyed by Christ Himself.

Daniel didn't understand fully but he was to write down what he saw and then seal the vision up for it was not for him. It bothered him greatly for what he saw was horrific however that doesn't excuse him from being faithful with the message. Don't let your lack of understanding get in the way of what God wants to do through you. Be obedient for you never know how much of a blessing you could end up being to others. Thanks to Daniel we have an understanding of the end times!

Father, thank You for all that You do to reveal Yourself to us. Use us to make Your name great in all the earth. Give us faith to continue forward in Your will even when things don't make sense to us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
