Daniel 6:10

Daniel 6:10 (ESV): "10 When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously."

Prayer is a vital component to keeping your heart souled out to God. If you want to live faithfully you must pray regularly. May prayer become so important to us that we would be willing to even give up our freedom or even our lives to stay connected to God.

After King Darius had made an ordinance that forbids anyone from making petitions to any god or man (except to him) for thirty days, Daniel went up to his room and continued his daily routine of praying to Jehovah God three times a day. He was not about to give up his communication with God for one day let alone thirty. He prayed and thanked God no more or no less. He wasn't being openly rebellious but being wise regarding his relationship with the Lord.

You can tell how intimate a relationship is by how much time is spent together. Many claim deep intimacy with God and yet pray very little. Do we not see the value of spending time with God? Knowing Him in the Spirit and petitioning and thanking Him for all He has done is a crucial part of our relationship with God. Daniel understood where his power and wisdom came from and thus he was willing to give up his life to maintain that. After all, life without the Lord is the description of Hell. Value your prayer time. Don't give it up for anyone for it is the key to faithfulness and intimacy, amen?

Father, thank You for allowing us the ability to communicate with You. Forgive us for how little time we spend on our knees. Put it on our hearts to follow hard after You by praying faithfully, in Jesus' name, amen.
