Daniel 10:12 (ESV): "12 Then he said to me, "Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words."
Do you fast while you pray? This is a powerful combination whereby one denies himself for some time for the sake of seeking God.The results are amazing. Our spirits become more in tune with the Spirit of God through fasting and we gain clarity and comfort from our God.Try it, I dare you!
During the third year of King Cyrus, Daniel was given an understanding that the people of Israel were going to experience some persecution and hardships as they came back into the land. When Daniel understood this, he was sorrowful and began to fast and pray. For 21 days he did this.God heard his cries on day one and sent an angel to Daniel to comfort him with further understanding which occurs in Chapter 11.
Fasting and prayer are powerful! Not only does God see our sacrifice and hear our prayers but He responds to them by sending angels by our side to comfort and console us.He gives us understanding through His Spirit and gives us peace that surpasses understanding. Jesus fasted often when seeking God thus we ought to as well.If you desire deeper intimacy and understanding from God seek Him through prayer while fasting.Deny your flesh and watch God work!Amen?
Father, we thank You for giving us a means of seeking deeper intimacy with You.When we fast our flesh is being starved out but our spirit becomes satisfied for You meet us and sup with us.May we seek You with all that we have for the understanding of how to navigate through these times we live in we pray in Jesus name, amen.
