Colossians 1:3-5

Colossians 1:3–5 (ESV): "3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, 5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven."

The hope of heaven should produce faith and love in us that others would hear about and be thankful for. When we realize the hope we have in Jesus it will change the way we live.

The church in Colossae was a hopeful bunch. They lived with eternity in view so much so that their faith and love were so great that Paul and Timothy heard about it. That makes total sense that the hope of heaven would produce such a response. A person has nothing to lose on earth if they are guaranteed heaven by grace through faith in Christ. What would make their hope less impactful is if they didn't keep heaven in view at all times.

As a believer, how often do you dwell on heaven? Is it always on your mind? An easy way to know is to evaluate if you are walking by faith in love. That will tell you the story. The constant thought of heaven will produce massive amounts of faith and love. This, we ought to keep our minds on things above and not the things of this world. When we do this consistently others will hear about us too!

Father, we thank You for the gift of heaven through Your Son. May we focus on heaven always that the thought might provoke us to greater faith and love we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
