Acts 9:31

Acts 9:31 (ESV): "31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied."

The Church is called to multiply. It's not to digress but progress. The Church is by definition believers who are "in" Christ. The key to moving in the right direction is surrender. The more you do it, the more you will experience true progression.

After Paul was delivered from the Jews in Damascus he went to join the disciples in Jerusalem but was given the cold shoulder because people were fearful of him. Barnabas stepped in to ease the suspicions of the brothers and told of Paul's boldness while in Damascus. While in Jerusalem Paul quickly stirred the Hellenist up with his boldness for the Gospel and they sought to kill him as well so he departed to Tarsus. After this the Church grew in peace, depth, and numbers as a result of fearing God and walking in the Spirit.

What is driving you to progress in Christ? If it's not the Spirit it's the wrong motive. The Spirit will lead true believers to walk peacefully in the fear of God and provide the comfort they need when they need it. Progression is therefore a result of surrender to the Spirit. God multiplies the Church through the Church. So surrender to the Spirit and be used by God to build up and multiply the body of Christ. Amen?

Father, we praise You for taking wretched people and doing beautiful things through us! May we surrender all the more so You can do more beautiful things through us that bring glory and honor to You we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
