Acts 9:23–25 (ESV): "23 When many days had passed, the Jews plotted to kill him, 24 but their plot became known to Saul. They were watching the gates day and night in order to kill him, 25 but his disciples took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a basket."
Living in the perfect will of God includes an expiration date. It is appointed for man to die and those days are numbered but until that appointment, God will provide a way of escape from physical death. All we have to do is walk in His will!
After Saul was converted to the man Paul the Jews sought to kill him for he was now preaching powerfully in the name of Jesus confounding the Jews in Damascus. They watched the gates day and night so they could capture him and kill him but it was not his time. God provided a way of escape through a while in the wall just like he did with the spies in Jericho.
Have you ever had a near-death experience? What method of delivery did God use to save you? In the permissive will of God, we can commit a sin that leads to death, but for those walking in the will of God, He has appointed us a specific number of days that we will not exceed (Job 14:5). He will provide a way of escape from the clutches of death until that appointed day. So in a sense, we are indestructible until He calls us home. Walk in that security Christian. He will deliver you from death in the here and now and for all eternity through His Son, amen?
Father, we thank You for giving us a way of escape always. May we walk in fear of You alone and not in anyone or anything else. We trust you in sickness and in heath, in valley and mountaintop in Jesus name, amen.
