Acts 8:26

Acts 8:26 (ESV): "26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is a desert place."

The most crucial part of being a servant of God is being willing to do what He says when He says it. Obedience is a factor in how much God can use a person. He needs things done His way and in His timing. Don't get ahead of Him or lag behind. Walk in step with the Lord and follow His instructions and you will be used mightily for Him!

Philip was one of the seven devout men filled with the Holy Spirit who was selected by the Apostles to be a Deacon in the early church. He had the gift of evangelism so it was no surprise that many came to Christ when he shared Jesus in Samaria. He was then called by God to leave the awakening to minister to one man in the desert. He would experience something as a result of his obedience that no one else had, even the Apostles.

Do you follow the Lord or do you expect Him to follow you? When He speaks, do you do what He says when He says to? God has the plan and all He desires for us to do is follow His instructions. Don't presume and act on your own accord. Walk obediently in the Lord and He will use you in wild ways. You might even experience an earthly rapture like Philip where he was transported in the Spirit from the desert to Azotus (Acts 8:39). Be obedient and you will be blessed! Amen?

Father, we thank You for the blessings that come through obedience. We desire to be all that You desire us to be. Help us to listen intently and do exactly what You say when You say to do it in Jesus' name we pray, amen!
