Acts 4:31 (ESV): "31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness."
It's been said, "Seven days without prayer makes one weak." Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have been given by God. We can both draw near to God through prayer and petition Him to work on our behalf of ourselves and others. Power comes through prayer!
The disciples understood the power of prayer. They watched Jesus spend countless hours in prayer communing with the Father and interceding for others. They knew the secret of spiritual success, prayer. After Peter and John were released by the religious leaders they gathered with the body of Christ and told them what happened and they praised God. After they had prayed the ground shook and they were filled with the Spirit and given boldness to speak forth the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
How important is personal prayer to you? What about corporate prayer? It's one thing to pray alone but an entirely different thing to gather with the body of Christ and pray to God with others. Don't neglect either Christian. Corporate prayer is perhaps the most neglected. Make it a point to gather with the body of Christ and pray. You never know what will happen. Be committed to communing, petitioning, and interceding for others both personally and corporately. Amen?
Father, we count it a privilege to have access to Your throne room at all times. May we never neglect the most powerful tool we've been given. Align our hearts with Yours and move in our midst as only You can we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
