Acts 28:4-5

Acts 28:4–5 (ESV): "4 When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live." 5 He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm."

The serpent is always ready to strike. When he does some will make assumptions relating to why God has allowed it. Don't fret, just shake it off for we have overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony.

Once ashore on Malta Paul gathered sticks to help make a fire. When he put the wood onto the fire a viper sprang out and latched on to his hand. Paul shook the viper off into the fire and went about his business. The natives assumed Paul was a murderer because this happened and they waited for him to swell and drop dead. Nothing became of it so they changed their mind and considered him a god.

How do you handle the strikes of the viper in your life? Do you allow his venom to poison your heart or do you proclaim the blood of Jesus over your situation and trust God? Don't give the enemy power over you. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Trust the Lord and shake it off! This too shall pass, amen?

Father, we thank You for giving us victory over the venom of the serpent. Help us to never fear his strikes but to trust in the antidote of the blood of Your Son. Give us courage and faith in all things we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
