Acts 26:19–20 (ESV): "19 "Therefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, 20 but declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance."
Have you considered that the Gospel is a call to change and not just belief? Saying I believe isn't enough. Paul preached a Gospel that called people to repent and turn to God, performing deeds in the keeping with repentance. The proof is in the pudding!
King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea and greeted Festus. Festus brought Paul's case up to him since he had appealed to Caesar. Agrippa wanted to hear Paul directly so the following day Paul was brought before him. He began to share his testimony about who he was before Christ, how he came to Christ, and what his life has been like since he had been born again. He told of his mission, that he had been sent by Jesus to the Gentiles "to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me." He then went on to say that the proof of their belief and true repentance would be a turning to God and works that would follow.
What is required for someone to be born again? Easy believism is a modern concept that is not Biblical. We must believe by faith but that faith must produce the fruit of repentance and good works. True faith in Christ will always lead to a changed life. If anyone is in Christ he is a NEW creation (2 Cor 5:17). If you've come to Christ you will know it. Your life will change. If you find yourself today living the same life you always have after "receiving Christ," chances are you have not truly been born again. Examine your heart to see if you are in the faith. It's not something I would consider lightly for eternity is at stake, amen?
Father, we thank You for saving us. You are so gracious and good to speak truthfully with us always. Examine our hearts Lord and help us to know that we are in You. If we have fallen away may we repent and return to You even now we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
