Acts 24:24-25

Acts 24:24–25 (ESV): "24 After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus. 25 And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, "Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you."

The Gospel is a line of reasoning that speaks clearly to the human spirit about life, death, and resurrection. That is why many refuse to listen to it because it convicts and shines light into dark places. Never cease reasoning with people about Jesus for it is the only hope for a lost soul.

After hearing of the assassination plan of Paul in Jerusalem the Romans moved him to Caesarea and ask Governor Felix to watch after him. Felix had "a rather accurate knowledge about the Way" but had yet to become a believer. When he summoned Paul to hear his case he became greatly alarmed by the things Paul was saying regarding righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment. He sent Paul away as a means of shielding his spirit from the truth.

Why is it important to tell people about faith in Jesus, righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment? It's the only message that can reason with the spirit of man. The Gospel tells us we are not good people! It declares that all who live need a Savior. No other message will convict and console the human spirit but the Gospel. Don't ever change this message! Understand not everyone will receive it but at least give them an opportunity, amen?

Father, we praise You for putting the knowledge within us to need You. May You awaken every soul to the reality of our eternal destination and draw those who don't know You to Yourself. Give us opportunities to share the Gospel with those around us we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
