Acts 16:3

Acts 16:3 (ESV): "3 Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him, and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek."

The Christian life is a journey that we are supposed to take others on with us! God is faithful to put people in our path whom we are called to bring along on our journey and teach them what we know. It's called making a disciple. Paul did that with Timothy.

As Paul and Silas set out to share the news with all the churches in Asia Minor that circumcision wasn't necessary for salvation they came to Lystra and reunited with a young man named Timothy. Paul asked Timothy to join them on their journey so he could be discipled for the ministry. He then circumcised Timothy to limit the cultural hindrances that would exist when attempting to minister to the Jewish people in Galatia and beyond for he was from a Jewish mother and a Greek father.

Who has God called you to bring along on your missionary journey? The Great Commission calls us to make disciples. That doesn't just mean sharing the Gospel but to show people how to live and walk in life as well. Bring someone else along on your journey. That is what Jesus meant when He said "teach them to observe all that I have commanded." Do you have a Timothy in your life currently? Pay attention because God has one for you. Amen?

Father, we thank You for the practical examples of what it looks like to make a disciple and also to recognize the call that You have on someone else's life. May we be willing to bring them along on our journey in life and show them what we know in Jesus' name, amen!
