Acts 15:39-41

Acts 15:39–41 (ESV): "39 And there arose a sharp disagreement, so that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas and departed, having been commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord. 41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches."

Sometimes believers don't agree on things relating to methods of ministry or even personnel in ministry. However, that does not give anyone an out to stop ministering. Paul and Barnabas disagreed on bringing John Mark with them on their second missionary journey and they split over it but they never ceased preaching the Gospel. There are no excuses when it comes to fulfilling your calling!

After returning from Jerusalem to Antioch with a letter and proven men from the council relating to law-keeping, Paul and Barnabas decided it was time to check on the other churches they planted. Barnabas the "encourager" wanted to take John Mark with them but Paul disagreed because John Mark bailed on them previously. They divided and went out in different directions Barnabas with John Mark and Paul with Silas. They kept the mission of Christ the focus and never used this as an excuse to shirk their calling.

What disagreements have you had in ministry that have kept you from fulfilling your calling? Sometimes God allows these to happen to move us to the right place or to double His efforts in certain ways. Mankind will not agree on everything but we should never let that stand in the way of what the Lord has called us to do. If you have let some disagreement with man hinder the calling of God in your life then repent and return to the Lord today. No excuse is a good one. Get back on mission, amen?

Father, we thank You for the reminder that sometimes we disagree with one another but that doesn't mean we didn't hear you correctly. May we never let anything get in the way of our calling we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
