Acts 13:2-3

Acts 13:2–3 (ESV): "2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off."

Making decisions relating to the will of God doesn't come naturally to us. Sometimes it requires seeking God in fasting. When we get our eyes on Jesus in worship and deny our flesh in fasting we find clarity in the Spirit. Try it, I dare you.

After Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem to Antioch bringing John Mark with them, they gathered with the prophets and teachers of the church to seek the Lord for what was next. As they set their hearts upon the Lord in worship while fasting the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." The direction was given and Barnabas and Paul along with John went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews.

Are you wondering what God would have you do currently? Are you in the waiting? Perhaps a fasting worship session is in order. You can never go wrong gathering with trusted brothers and sisters in Christ seeking God through fasting. The Holy Spirit will direct you! He desires to reveal God's will and send laborers into the harvest. If you are lacking direction in your life worship God through fasting and even ask others to join you. He will give you direction if you seek Him intently. Amen?

Father, we thank You for giving us instruction on how to hear Your voice clearer. May we set aside our fleshly needs to seek Your Spirit. Bring clarity to the confused through fasting we pray in Jesus' name, amen!
